USSU Executive Meets with Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall (October 27 - 2009) The University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union Executive met today with Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall to discuss issues relevant to U of S students, and to give the Premier a tour of the current renovation and expansion of the Place Riel Student Centre on the U of S campus. Speaking on behalf of the Executive, USSU External VP Chris Stoicheff said the meeting was important to engage the Provincial government on issues that affect students. Stoicheff said student loan interest rates, the government’s tuition management strategy and the implementation of a Saskatchewan Scholarship Fund were among some of issues discussed by the Executive and Premier Wall. “Saskatchewan needs a highly skilled and educated workforce to sustain its prosperity and remain competitive in an increasingly global and knowledge-based economy,” said Stoicheff. “By coming to campus and meeting with students, the Premier has demonstrated that student interests are a government priority. We look forward to making progress on the issues discussed.” For more questions or information about this media release, please contact: |
