Although originally the Centre operated with limited funding, the dedicated volunteers and directors succeeded in building a library, organizing workshops and panels, and running discussion and support groups, along with other on-campus activities. In the summer of 1998, the Centre moved to its current location in the Memorial Union Building. The centre changed its name and mission statement in 2002 to be inclusive of transgender and ally students (LGBTA Centre). As the Centre celebrated its ten-year anniversary in 2007 as the USSU Pride Centre, it aims to include, support, and celebrate an even more diverse range of sexual orientations and gender identities. |
